PreK Programs

We offer programs for both 3- and 4-year-olds.

About

The curriculum goals of the St. Alexander School PreK Programs are academic based and designed in conjunction with the Illinois State Board of Education and Office of Catholic Schools Early Childhood Learning Standards. Many of the goals in the PreK Programs align with the Kindergarten Curriculum Standards.

St. Alexander School PreK provides children with a wide range of experience and activities designed to encourage and assist in the total development of the whole child. Areas addressed in our curriculum include spiritual, intellectual, and emotional growth. The academic areas of focus are Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Fine and Gross Motor development and Social Skills are integrated into the curriculum as well.

Along with working to meet the PreK goals and standards, time is spent working on socialization skills, including but not limited to working and playing with others, sharing, following simple rules and routines, and listening to the teacher. Students are also encouraged to become more independent as they carry out simple tasks.
